Kay Ellen Ivey (born October 15, 1944) is an American politician who served as Alabama’s 54th Governor since 2017. A member of the Republican Party, she served as Alabama’s 38th State Treasurer from 2003 to 2011 and 30th Lt. Governor of Alabama from 2011 to 2017. She is the second female governor and the first female Republican governor since the resignation of her predecessor, Robert J. Bentley. In the 2018 gubernatorial election, she won a full term by a wide margin over her rival, Walt Maddox.
