Early Life
Josh Kiska was born on April 23, 1996 in Michigan. He was born five minutes before Jake, his twin brother. Raised in a family of artists, the brothers grew up surrounded by music and literature. After his parents provided him and his siblings with their first blues and rock vinyl pad, his interest in music grew. Along with his brothers Jake and Sam, Josh began playing various instruments at a young age.

Josh, along with his twin brother Jake and younger brother Sam, formed a band called Greta Van Fleet with Kyle Hauk in 2012. The name was inspired when one of the band members had a relative named Gretna Van Fleet. His earliest published songs include Cloud Train and Standing On. Hauk later left and Danny Wagner joined the band as lead drummer.
Josh is the lead singer for the band and provides vocals for most of their songs. After releasing several songs and an EP, his band signed with Lava Records in 2017. Shortly after signing, they released an EP called Black Smoke Rising. That same year, they also won Best New Artist at the Loudwire Music Awards. Also in 2017 they released the EP From the Fires.
This EP was a huge success and included popular songs like Talk on the Street and Edge of Darkness. They then released their debut album Anthem of the Peaceful Army in 2018, which became one of the best-selling albums in the first week and managed to sell more than 80,000 copies. Their success has also earned them four Grammy Award nominations. In late 2020 they released their second album The Battle at Garden’s Gate.

In addition to his love of music, Josh is passionate about movies. He said that he likes to write, film and edit videos. When asked what he would have done if he hadn’t been in the band, Josh said that he would be writing scripts and producing shorts. He also had some theater experience in his early years when he starred in the 2013 comedy Willy Wonka.
