Charlie Duane Baker, Jr. (born November 13, 1956) is an American businessman and politician who served as the 72nd Governor of Massachusetts since January 8, 2015.
As a Republican, he served as a cabinet minister under two Governors of Massachusetts and served as CEO for ten years of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care.
Charlie Baker was brought up in Needham, Massachusetts, & received an AB from Harvard College in 1979 before going on to earn an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
Under Governor Bill Weld, he was appointed Massachusetts Assistant Secretary of Health and Human Services in 1991. He has been appointed Massachusetts Secretary of Health and Human Services in 1992.
Later, under Weld and his successor, Paul Cellucci, he held the position of Finance and Administration.
