Udonis Haslem was born on June 9, 1980 in Miami, Florida, United States. He was born to his parents John and Debra. His father, John, played college basketball for the Stetson Hatters varsity basketball team.
Regarding his education, he attended Wolfson High School and Miami High School. For two years, in 1997 and 1998, he helped his high school basketball team win state titles. However, the Miami school was stripped of the title in 1998 for violating Florida High School Athletic Association rules.
Haslem enrolled at the University of Florida after receiving an athletic scholarship. He began playing for the varsity team in 1998 under manager Billy Donovan. Udonis was not selected in the 2002 NBA draft due to size requirements. He was 6 feet 6 inches in the field prior to the NBA draft. After a while, he joined the Atlanta Hawks basketball team.
