Tarek El Moussa was born on August 21, 1981 in Long Beach, California, United States. He is of Arab-European descent, as his father grew up in Lebanon and Egypt and his mother is Belgian. When he was a teenager, his father moved to Europe. He grew up with a sister named Dominique.

Moussa became a licensed real estate agent at the age of 21. After getting the real estate license from him, he immediately started selling houses. He also met his ex-wife Christina Haack while she was working in the flip business.
