Slim Tug (real name Steve Jerome Thomas) was born on September 8, 1980 in Houston, Texas, USA. He did not provide any information about his parents or his education. He was nicknamed the skinny bandit because he was tall and skinny. Slim has been in love with music since childhood. By the age of 17, he was freestyle rapping at local high school parties.

Slim began his rap career as a singer on the southern rap label Swishahouse. It was the 90’s when he was performing for the label. Slim quickly realized that he could have made more money by giving away his mixtapes. He later parted ways with Swishahouse and founded his own independent label, Boss Hogg Outlawz. He also bought two record stores while working in the real estate business.

Slim released his first studio album, Ya Platinum, in July 2005. However, due to the delay, he released his debut album some time later. The album was released by Star Trak Entertainment and Interscope Records. His hard work paid off when the album peaked at number 2 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart. Also, the album sold 130,000 copies in its first week.
