Sherry Shepherd was born on April 22, 1967 in Chicago, Illinois, United States. She was born to her parents, Lawrence A. Shepherd and Laverne. Her father, Lawrence, was a deacon at the church. She grew up with her parents and her three sisters. Sherry lost her mother in 1991.

Regarding his education, he attended Winston Churchill Primary School. She then enrolled in Community Consolidated School District 54’s Eisenhower High School and graduated attending Hoffman Estates County High School.

Sherry landed her first acting role on the short-lived sitcom Cleghome!, where she played Victoria Carlson. A short-lived television series ran for one season on The WB in 1995. In 1996, she landed the lead role of Sheila Yarborough on the WB sitcom The Jamie Foxx Show. She then appeared in recurring roles on other sitcoms like Suddenly Susan and Everybody Loves Raymond.

In 2002, she played the lead role of Ramona Platt in the American sitcom Less Than Perfect. She played this role for four years until 2006. Sherry garnered more praise after appearing on the sitcom Sherry for one season in 2009. The sitcom was based on her own life. Sherry also rose to fame after becoming a co-host of the ABC talk show The View.

Sherry lived with Sally for more than two years before they split in May 2014.

After the separation, Sherri and her ex-husband Sally welcomed their son through surrogacy in August 2014. A Pennsylvania court found Sherry legally responsible for the baby as she challenged the surrogacy agreement.
