Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh or “Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark” is a Greek husband of Queen Elizabeth II, a member of the British royal family. He was the monarch’s husband from 1952 until her death. This made him the oldest royal consort in history.
Passionate about sports, Prince Philip was actively involved in the development of motor racing competitions. He has been a patron, president or member of more than 780 organizations and has managed the Duke of Edinburgh Award, a self-improvement program for young people aged 14 to 24.

Prince Philip was born on June 10, 1921 and was 99 years old at the time of his death. He was born and raised in a very wealthy Greek Orthodox family in Mon Repos, Corfu, Kingdom of Greece. He was Greek and belonged to the Greek Orthodox Christian religion.
He completed his early education at Gordonstown School, Chim School and Salem Castle School in the Kingdom of Greece.
Later he also entered the Royal Naval College of Britain in the Kingdom of Greece, from which he graduated. Louis was a naturalized British citizen who renounced his German titles and adopted the surname Mountbatten, an anglicized form of Battenberg, after a career in the Royal Navy.
