Early Life

MyKayla Skinner was born on December 9, 1996 in Gilbert, Arizona. As a child, Skinner admired Olympian Sean Johnson. She then began training at the Desert Lights gym in her hometown of Arizona. Skinner attended Higley High School, but she switched to homeschooling in 2012. In 2014, she decided to attend the University of Utah as a varsity gymnast.

One of her first wins came at the 2011 American Classics, where she was declared champion. This led to him being selected on the United States junior national team that same year.
