Ross Capiccioni became a success and opened up new opportunities in his career as people in the industry began to take notice of him and his skills. With the promotion, he signed a contract with Atlantic Records, which felt like a turning point.

The song touched on a current issue during the run for the company, which was also highly controversial. Many people enjoyed the meaning and message that Lucas was trying to convey with this song, and the video was even nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Music Video at the 61st Grammy Awards.
