John Fitzgerald Kennedy, commonly known as John F. Kennedy, was an American politician by profession. From 1961 to 1965 he was the 35th President of the United States. He was also called JFK, after his initials.
He served at the height of the Cold War and much of his presidency focused on relations with the Soviet Union and Cuba. Before becoming president, he was a Democrat and a member of the Kennedy family in both houses of the United States Congress.
