Early life
Withers was born on April 12, 1926, in Atlanta, Georgia, the son of Walter Edward Withers and Lavinia Ruth Withers. His career in show business began when he was very young. At the age of two he entered a tap school. At the age of three, he won Dixie’s local amateur Dainty Dewdrop competition.
Amazingly, at the age of three and a half, he had his own radio show called Dixie’s Dainty Dewdrop, where he interviewed celebrities visiting Atlanta.
Jane Withers’s estate and career
Withers moved to Hollywood before her sixth birthday. Her first film role was in the 1932 film Attention. Her biggest break came in 1934 when she landed a supporting role in Shirley Temple’s Bright Eyes. The film was a huge success and the director even told her, “You stole the picture.”
After a major move, he signed a seven-year contract with the Fox Film Corporation. On her ninth birthday, she began acting in the movie Ginger. In the 1930s and 1940s, she appeared in several blockbuster movies, including The Holy Terror, Pepper, The Rascals, Paddy O’Day, Little Miss Nobody, and Always in Trouble.
He also went on solo tours for which he was paid more than $5,000 a week, a monumental amount at the time. In 1941 he signed his second seven-year contract with 20th Century Fox. A year later, he signed a three-year, $225,000 contract with Republic Pictures. With Republic Pictures, he starred in Johnny Donut, My Best Girl and Faces in the Mist.
Withers retired in 1947 at the age of 21 to concentrate on his personal life. She retired nine days before marrying William Moss. At that time, she had starred in 38 films.
He then returned to the big screen in the 1956 film Giant. After Giant, he also appeared in a number of television shows, including Pete and Gladys, GE Theatre, The Alfred Hitchcock Hour, Love Boat, and Murder She Writes. In 1960, she was recognized as a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

In 1947, Withers married William Moss, a Texas businessman and film producer. However, they separated in April 1953, and their divorce was finalized in 1954. She went through a divorce and was hospitalized for emotional distress. She had three children with William.
In October 1955, she married Four Freshman singer Kenneth Arrair. She had two children with Kenneth. In 1968, Arryre was killed in a plane crash near Bass Lake, California.
Withers died on August 7, 2021 at the age of 95 in Burbank, California.
