When she was three years old, her family moved to Park Ridge, a suburb of Chicago. Her father, Hugh Rodham, was of English and Welsh descent and ran a small, successful textile business that he founded. Her mother, Dorothy Howell, was a homemaker of Dutch, English, French-Canadian (Quebec), Scottish, and Welsh descent. She also has siblings. Clinton has two younger brothers, Hugh and Tony. Academically, she attended South High School. In 1965 she graduated from high school in the top five percent of her class.
