Early life

Don Getz was born on January 22, 1948 in Rugby, North Dakota, United States. His father, Jerry Goetz, was Mayor of Rugby. He was also a candidate for lieutenant governor of North Dakota. During a live broadcast of a North Dakota Republican Party event in 1964, Jerry died of a heart attack.

Regarding his education, he attended Concordia College. Don had a high school diploma with a minor in religion and political science. He then enrolled at Troy State University, where he earned a master’s degree in education.
