Early Life
Christy Martin grew up in West Virginia, where she attended Mullens High School. From a young age, Ella Christie was involved in various sports, including basketball, with her being one of her favorites, playing in the Allstate Basketball League. She then attended Concord College, where she received a basketball scholarship and earned a Bachelor of Arts. graduate in pedagogy.

Christie began her boxing career at the age of 21 when she entered the Toughwoman competition where she was able to win three titles in a row. She started training with Charlie Sensabo, then Jim Martin became her boxing trainer for a long time. An important moment in her career came when she had to fight Beverly Szymanski for the WBC Junior Women’s Welterweight Championship, which ended with Christy defeating Beverly in three rounds. Personal Life
Christie married her boxing trainer Jim Martin in 1991. Although at first glance they seemed to have a good relationship, they had a lot of problems because Jim was very insulting towards Christy. On November 23, 2010, Jim criticized Christie for dating a lesbian and also made several other accusations against her. He then did the unthinkable, repeatedly stabbing her in different parts of her body and even shooting her in the chest.
Incredibly, Christy was still alive after Jim left, so she ran out of the house with all the energy she had left, saying that she had been praying to God all this time. Fortunately, although the first person on the road ignored her, the other person behind the wheel helped her to the hospital.
A week later, Jim Martin was arrested and taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center for stabbing. He was convicted of second-degree murder and sentenced to 25 years in prison, after which he began serving his sentence at the Graceville Correctional Center. Since then, Christy has moved on with his life and married Lisa Holevin, a former ring rival. They got married in 2017 and are now together.
