Early Life

Pondexter attended John Marshall Metropolitan High School, where she was an active basketball player. She was later named a WBCA AllAmerican for her performance there. She also competed in the 2001 WBCA High School AllAmerica, where she also won the MVP award.

After school, Pondexter entered Rutgers University, where he played for the Scarlet Knights. There she won the Big East Championships in 2005 and 2006. While at Rutgers, she also competed in the NCAA tournament and was named the 2006 Women’s Basketball News Service National Player of the Year.
