Kilmead was born on May 7, 1964 in New York, New York. She attended Liceo Scientifico in Massapequa and graduated in 1982. She then enrolled at LIU Post in New York and graduated in 1986 with a Bachelor of Arts.

Brian began his career as a news correspondent for Channel One. He later worked as a host and presenter for KHSLTV in California. He later co-hosted The Jim Brown Show sports radio show on KLSD.
In 1997 he was a freelance sportswriter for WVIT in Connecticut. He then worked as a part-time reporter for the MSG Network, where he was hired to cover the New York/New Jersey Metrostars, a leading soccer team based out of Giants Stadium.
Kilmead then worked as a reporter and anchor for Newsport TV, where he hosted a daily show for the National Sports Network. He then moved to Fox News in 2006, replacing former Fox anchor Tony Snow.
