Bad Teacher 2 Cast Crew Release Date Net Worth, Age, Height, Relationship Status

Two years after the comedy Bad Teacher Bad Teacher grossed $216 million worldwide, it has been revealed that Columbia Pictures has greenlit a sequel. However, roughly a decade has passed since the announcement and there has never been a sequel, leaving comedy fans wondering if Bad Teacher 2 will ever come to fruition. While the opportunity for a second installment seems to have passed, Hollywood’s passion for celebrity intellectual rights ensures that there will always be an opportunity for a sequel down the line.

After all, the “Bad Teacher” already has spiritual followers. In 2014, CBS turned the film into a short-lived television series. Although only three episodes were filmed, Bad Teacher had a surprisingly strong comedic cast.

The ensemble cast included Ari Graynor as Bad Teacher, Kristin Davis, David Alan Grier, Sarah Gilbert, Ryan Hansen, and Colin Hanks. Unfortunately, the comedy was not well received by critics or fans of the film, so it was quickly cancelled. Aside from a less promising update from director Jake Kasdan, things have been quiet on the Bad Teachers front ever since.

Bad Teacher 2 extended or canceled

According to director Jake Kasdan, “Bad Teacher 2” is unlikely. In an interview with Moviehole.net in 2018, Kasdan said that the sequel stalled, at least in part, due to a lack of inspiration. “I’m afraid it’s unlikely at this point,” he added of the second Bad Teacher movie.

While Kasdan has a brilliant story for a sequel, there’s another bump in his path: During a 2020 interview with Gwyneth Paltrow, Diaz announced that he’s retiring from acting. According to Vanity Fair magazine, the actress said that she wanted to be independent from the celebrity world, and that her withdrawal gave her “peace of mind.”

Although the production company may decide to go ahead with the sequel without Diaz, his enthusiasm and comedic timing were key elements in the success of the original. A Bad Teacher reboot is probably safer than trying to develop a direct sequel to the movie, unless he changes his mind and starts acting again in the near future. But, at least for now, this is not a problem, as the Bad Teacher team has moved on to other projects.

It would be interesting to see Diaz play the bad teacher again, but the sequel to Bad Teacher seems to be on an indefinite summer break, at least for now.
