Early life
Vinnie was born on August 9, 1966 in Springfield, Massachusetts, United States. His father, Vince, taught him to play basketball and he went to All-American College twice. He attended Cathedral High School and joined the varsity basketball team his freshman year.

Vinnie continued to love basketball as he grew older and was eventually noticed by basketball coach Dennis Kinn. Dennis was very impressed with his basketball skills, which led him to persuade him to enroll in the Suffield Academy. In the league, he averaged 1,116 points, making him Suffield Academy’s all-time leading scorer.
