Early life

Terri Irwin was born on July 20, 1964 in Eugene, Oregon, United States. She was born the youngest daughter of Clarence and Judy Raines. Her parents were also environmentalists. As a child, she enjoyed the free life walking around Spencer Butte and spending time with friends on bikes in Alton Baker Park.

From a young age, Terri became interested in wildlife rescue and rehabilitation. Her father brought home injured animals and they treated her injuries. Her interest in caring for animals later became her life’s goal and, since she opened Cougar Country Rehab in 1986, she has cared for 300 animals a year.

Irwin then became a vet tech in 1989 and started working at an emergency vet clinic. Terri has been very busy in her life as she also helps her father run her business running the rehab and vet clinic. In 1991, she met Steve Irwin while visiting a wildlife rehabilitation center.

Terri moved to Australia after marrying Steve, leaving her Cougar County project in the United States. Together with Steve in 2002, she released the movie Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course. Steve’s father, Bob Irwin, retired from the Australian Zoo on March 2, 2008. At the time, a debt collection agency sued the zoo for $2.5 million. However, the court later rejected the request.

Terri received the only video before Steve’s death on January 3, 2007. However, she never saw the video or posted it. In an interview with Access Hollywood on January 11, 2007, Terri revealed that she destroyed all of the footage. Terri Irwin married Steve Irwin in her hometown of Oregon in 1992. She has two children with him, Bindi and Robert Irvine. Steve died on September 4, 2006 of a heart injury sustained by a hook ray while walking up Mount Cradle. It is said that he made an underground documentary near Port Douglas in Queensland. Terri became an Australian citizen on November 15, 2009.
