Edson Arantes do Nascimento, better known as Pelé, is a Brazilian former professional footballer. Considered one of the best players of all time, he was named “The Great” by FIFA. He was one of the most successful and popular sports stars of the 20th century.
In 1999 he was named Athlete of the Century by the International Olympic Committee and was listed by Time magazine as one of the 100 most influential people of the century. In 2000, the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) named Pelé the World Player of the Century.
