Early life
Nick Young (real name Nicholas Aaron Young) was born on June 1, 1985 in Los Angeles, California, USA. He was born to parents Charles Young Sr. and May Young. Nick is fully American by nationality. He grew up with his older brother Charles Young Jr. and his younger brother John Young.
Nick lost his older brother to gang violence. For his studies, he entered the Cleveland High School. He then enrolled at the University of Southern California and actively played basketball while attending Cleveland High School. During his high school career, he averaged 27.2 points and 10.8 rebounds.
Young was named one of the top 50 rookies in 2004 by basketball prep guru Frank Burlison. In one game he scored 56 points and 23 rebounds. In 2003 he received the CIF LA City Section First Team Award. Young went on to play basketball after attending the University of Southern California. He played for the varsity team from 2004 to 2007.
Nick led his varsity team to an easy 7,760 first-round win over Arkansas. The team then led with 22 points against the Texas Longhorns. As he was finishing his junior season on April 15, 2007, he announced to the Los Angeles Times that he would be leaving senior year to begin his professional career.

Young was selected by the Washington Wizards with the 16th overall pick in the 2007 NBA draft. He played his first professional NBA game against the Sacramento Kings on December 15, 2007. Young scored a career-high 43 points against the Sacramento Kings on January 11, 2011. .
Nick was traded to the new Los Angeles Clippers on March 15, 2012. He showed incredible form with the Clippers, helping the team make the playoffs for the first time in six years against Oklahoma Thunder City. Young signed a one-year deal with the Philadelphia 76ers on July 12, 2012. After playing one year with the 76ers, he signed with the Los Angeles Lakers on July 11, 2013.
