The Nelk Boys launched their YouTube channel on July 6, 2010. The channel was created by Kyle Forgerd with three members: Niko, Marko Martinovic, and Lucas Gasparini. Four years later he met Jesse Sebastiani, who directed the documentary Saved by Status. Jesse became a member of the group, while former members Niko and Marco left the group in 2015.

In January 2015, the Pranksters released their video titled “Coke Prank on Cops”. In one video, they tricked cops into telling them they had cocaine in their car. Officers thought the cocaine was cocaine, but they were actually referring to Coca-Cola. The Nelk Boys later became embroiled in controversy after the LAPD brought them to their attention by issuing a statement informing the public that the prank was illegal.
