Early Life

When Valdés was just 10 years old, his family moved from Cuba to Miami on one of the last freedom flights. From there he grew up in New Jersey, where education was always a priority and the family lived in poverty.

Regarding his education, he attended Hudson Catholic High School, where he was an honor student. He later enrolled at the University of Miami, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting.

He also has a BA from Southeastern College, where he studied New Testament and Biblical Theology. She later continued his studies and earned a master’s degree in biblical theology from Wheaton College.

Jorge got one of his first official positions when he was just 17 years old, working for the Federal Reserve Bank as a bank auditor. Later, with the prospect of tutoring him from his accounting professor, Jorge started working for him. However, his life changed completely after working with the first client called La Puerta del Sol.

However, it was actually just a cover for a group of international drug traffickers. Later, as Valdez became more familiar with the group, he began working with them to run all of the operations that would become known as the Medellin drug cartel.

Over the years, Valdés and his accounting expertise have proven invaluable to the cartel. There was a time in his business where they said they made over $50 million a month. He also worked closely with Pablo Escobar.

He once said that although he was involved in illegal business, he wanted to work honestly and did not agree with Escobar’s proposal to charge drug traffickers for the insurance of cocaine shipments. At one point, Escobar even had him killed for using one of his airstrips to transport cocaine.

However, in 1979 he was accused of participating in a drug cartel and must serve six years in prison. However, he has returned to participate in the operations, for which he faces 10 years in prison. After his release, Valdez decided to start a new life by starting a small disaster recovery business.

Today he is a motivational speaker and author who has written several books. He coined the term Narco Mindset, with which he wants to motivate the next generation with positivity.
