Early life
Johnny Dang was born on November 21, 1974 in Vietnam. He spent his childhood in a small town in central Vietnam. His father was a Vietnam War soldier who escaped the war on a boat and settled in Texas, where he opened a small jewelry store. In 1996, along with his mother, brothers and sisters, he left Vietnam for Texas and returned to his father.
After moving to Houston, Texas, she attended Houston Community College and majored in English. Her father and her grandfather worked in the jewelry business. In Vietnam, she also learned to make jewelry to help her father. However, after moving to Texas, she discovered significant differences between the jewelry design process she learned in Vietnam and the style and technology used in the United States.
