Early life

Joe Budden was born on August 31, 1980 in New York, United States. He was born to his parents Faye Southerland and Joseph Budden. When he was 13 years old, he moved to Jersey City, New Jersey with his mother and his older brother. There he attended Lincoln High School.

Joe was sent to boarding school at the Laurinburg Institute because he was a troubled youth. Around this time, he began to hone his skills as a rapper. Joe became addicted to drugs after returning to Jersey and became addicted to angel dust. On July 3, 1007, he voluntarily entered drug addiction treatment.
