Richard Lowax Kyanka, founder of the comedy site Something Awful, has died at the age of 45. Fragmaster, the administrator of the site’s forum, confirmed his death. Richard “Lowtax” Kyanka, the founder of Something Awful and a major influence on certain aspects of modern Internet culture, has passed away at the age of 45.
The post was first published on Something Awful by forum administrator Fragmaster, who was a personal friend of Kyanka, and Motherboard was able to confirm from the Lee Summit Police Department in Missouri that Kyanka committed suicide on November 9.

Who was Richard Kyanka?
Richard Kianka is best known as the founder and administrator of the Something Awful blog and forum.
According to his Facebook account, he lived on top of Lee and was studying at Vanderbilt University. She then dropped out of college.
According to his profile, Richard was also a writer for GameSpy.
He ran the YouTube channel Gaming Garbage, where he uploaded and made gaming videos.
Something terrible?
Richard started Something Awful as a personal blog in 1999. It quickly grew into a website with articles, forums, and media reports.
Gizmodo has included this site in the list of “Sites That Shaped the Internet as We Know It.” They ranked the forum page 89th.
In an interview with Vice in 2017, Richard explained how the idea for the website came about.
I have used the motto “Something terrible”. He said, “Wow, that Del Taco burrito is awful. One day I told him, “I really have to register this place,” my friend replied, “What are we going to do? put there? I said, “I don’t know, I just want to write it down. “

In October 2020, Richard sold the site, writing in a Facebook post, “Just licensed the rights to Something Awful. Nice release, bye.”
