Early life

César Millán was born on August 27, 1969 in the countryside of Culiacán, Sinaloa, Mexico. He was born to his parents María Teresa Favela and Felipe Millán Guillén. He spent his childhood on a farm in Sinaloa. Cesare worked with farm animals and helped his grandfather, who was a farmer.

At the age of 21, he illegally entered the United States across the border. At the time, he spoke no English and only had $100. Cesar became a permanent resident of the United States in 2000 and became a US citizen in 2009.

Cesar learned English after befriending Jada Pinkett Smith, who helped him meet one of her friends to teach him English. He also said that he can speak English thanks to Jada. Millan met Jada when she arrived in Los Angeles. With her, he shared his dreams of working with pets on television.
